EYE OF NIX - Moros LP
"We caught Seattle’s Eye of Nix at the High Water Mark & took in their excellent big, operatic experimental Metal sound. While the Eye of Nix have a Metal root, somewhere, this is best understood as experimental, avant garde music & would probably do best in a dark theatrical setting with lots of crazy lights, puppets & smoke machines. Their sound falls somewhere between the more ambient, psychedelic Gothic stuff from the 80s like Swans, the more ambient, psychedelic Crust stuff from the 90s like Neurosis & the more ambient, psychedelic Black Metal stuff from the 90s like Satyricon. This record would have been a perfect soundtrack to when I was living in the Bat Cave, in a closet-sized front-entrance way & teetering between Punk, Goth & Metal scenes, making my own absinthe, talking to daemonic entities & losing my mind. Now I’m all better, I see myself as more of a Sun King than a creature of the night, but I can still appreciate the morose, despairing sounds of the Eye of Nix, especially when they are as good as they are." -Sean Aaberg (PORK Magazine)
