More than just an artifact from before gentrification struck Portland Maine with unyielding regurgitation of the arts, making "makers" of anyone whose creative focus hadn't been expelled by rising living expenses- This is an album of highly listenable weirdo indie pop carried over very calm vocal delivery. Because the recording is from 1996, Godbois' electronic elements resonate almost as playful nods to warm 70s electronics, in stark contrast to modern allegiances to bygone robot grooves via sterile synth wave. Full of thoughtful songwriting, Hopscotch Decisions is unlike anything you'd uncover through the usual internet channels, serving as an entertaining dérive back into a phantom Portland, which sounds sweeter in this long stretch before we reclaim the space to manifest more beautiful media such as this. Plus, it'll only cost you about the price of a burrito from Granny's.
